Large-scale Moscow's Strikes Eliminate Power In Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have faced escalating attacks in recent weeks

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in multiple districts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were wounded while local people in the city's east were experienced blackouts and encountered problems to water supplies, per reports from local authorities.

Meanwhile, a minor was killed in a distinct Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, according to regional authorities.

Russian forces has intensified strikes on power infrastructure over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "substantial measures" from partner nations to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not symbolic gestures but strong steps - from the US, Europe and the major economies - in delivering protection systems and implementing sanctions," was stated in a online statement.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and more than 30 projectiles attacked the country's power systems, labeling such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were laboring to repair systems.

A series of attacks struck electrical systems and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Multiple people injured in the strikes on the capital have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by local officials.

Local officials said the city endured significant strikes during nighttime hours. A minor died and several individuals were injured.

The strikes follow nights of aerial attacks in the area, portions of which are occupied by Russian forces.

All of Ukraine is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to detect.

Authorities told reporters that Moscow was purposely seeking to destroy the national power system, with strikes already affecting fuel infrastructure.

Officials stated utility staff and authorities were preparing for additional strikes.
